The real axis of evil

Israel has reached the wall and "Iran’s radical president is sinking fast, and he knows it. Now, there’s only one man who can keep Mahmoud Ahmadinejad out of the unemployment line:
George W. Bush."

I read the second article" Ahmednejat jobless..." it is really great
to anon and Pen name. The Video you suggested made me die of laughing. I needed Oxygen therapy after watching it so I can breathe. What is that? Is the imam job in Iran to make people cry? it seems to me like a cave man funeral where they hire somebody whose main job is to stimulate people to cry. They seems to be 300 years behind the time. So funny.
following that crazy video I found another one

Ignore that the studentds' uniform make them look like in jail. Just look at the hope in their eyes.
Watch that too..

Mr. Ahmadinejad knows the Iranian people; he lived in the provinces and knows the issues facing Iran well.

I do not care what a bunch of bache-su-sool in Northern Tehran say; he has been a good president for Iran.

Pen Name,

What does living in provinces have to do with Bache-sosools in Northern Tehran?

Does "knowing people" mean that he is willing to loosen up the pockets and paying the poor people of the remote vilages of the provinces to go and cheer on his speeches?

He goes around, trying to charm people! People of many provinces have not paid him much attention. People of Yazd have snubbed him. People of Baaft, a little city in Kerman, have not even let him visit.

The people of Northern Tehran may nag as much as the want. The eople of Northern tehran are not 70 million! The people of Northern tehran were not the only peopl ewho kicked Mr Ahmadinejad's bum in the city council elections.

I know he is in a tough boat; and as I have repeatedly said, what he SAYS makes a lot of sense. But he doesn't ACT accordingly. What he HAS done, from all his propagandist proposals, has been making life hell to a bunch of soosools in Iran, and lecturing to a group of highschol kids in a village about the Israel Regime ... and the people of the provinces do not give a DAMN about nuclear energy; do not give a damn about Israel and Arabs.

Just look at the havoc the gas rationing has created. I don't blame Ahmadinejad for it; I know they have little choice in the face of sanctions imposed on Iran. But it is not the soosools of Northern tehran who are burning the gas stations! The peopel of Northern tehran buy their tcket to London to run away from this mess. It is the people on whose vote Mr Ahmadinejad has invested, that are pressed economically!

Mr. Ahmadinejad has a different style that some might dislike.

Yes, Yazd & Baft might have rejected him but more cities embraced him.

And it was his idea to take the cabinet on the road to provinces with him.

I do not have many issues with his government's policies; they have been generally competent & correct decisions. I disagree with some but I know that they could also be defended.

As for the rioters - the should be arrested and punished to the limit that the law permits. Clearly, large sectors of the Iranian polity are used to free hand-outs; that has to be stopped; both in fuel and in other areas.

The ordinary people may not care beyond their day-to-day problems and issues. A government, on the other hand, must care about not just the day-to-day issues but also about the future. That he does.

To take his cabinet on a road trip! Well that is of course jolly good. Only if his massive road trips did not create cost and headache for the poor people of the "provinces."

Re. "Embraced Ahmadinejad" ... When I was in school, during the years of "scared defense", we were FORCED to go to events organized for visiting Mullahs.

In a country where people are "used to hand outs", who can refuse a free meals and gift handouts?!

You are contradicting yourself Pen. On the one hand you say the government needs not to please ordinary people. On the other hand you say Mr Ahmadinejad knows the ordinary people! Mr Ahmadinejad is under fire, both by the elite and by the ordinary people. I think you and I are his only defenders :))

In politics it is always clear that you cannot satisfy every one. He is doing the best he can according to his judgement & ability. That's the reason for existence of an "executive" - to make decisions in a timely manner based on imperfect knowledge and information. In government, in the universities, in corporations, in any organization you need people who are authorized to make decisions. Otherwise nothing will get done.

As for the Iranian people: they are mercurial. They want to be Modern but they are attached to their old ways - they want Liberty but they also want restrictions coming from Tradition. They want Free Enterprise but crave government hand-outs, they want freedom but want state intervention. They want Islam and non-Islam.

They just nag.

Lack of Rule of Law in Iran is a serious problem.

It can only be redressed if and wben the ruling classes in Iran agree that by obeying their own laws, they will protecting their own interests.

This will take decades - if ever.

Notice the attempt on the life of Mr. Hajarian - what can I say.

A new regime will only bring another ruling elite - it will not change their attitude towards Law.

Thank you for the post from YouTube.

This is really quite extraordinarily creative.

It reminds me of the work that has been done in making the ghazzal poetic form available in English language [see http://www.ghazalpage.net/ and also the book "Call Me Ishmael Tonight!"]

It also is the cultural analogue of the Persian language wrappers.

Really this is a great example of cultural discourse and exchage - a form of Dialogue Among Civilizations.

I think the poetic form of this "nohe" could be refined further - but it is a good beginning.

Ya Ali Madad!

Pen Name, I suppose you are refering to the first link? I am sorry, but that is A RIDICULOUS culture as it lacks meaning, information, beauty, grace, philosophy, history ...

The guy doesn't even have a nice voice!

It's just as stupid as some rock music, I have to say!

But hey, if this is what is cranking your wheels, then who am I to judge! Enjoy!

You can laugh as much as you like but the message of Imam Hussein's Path is being transmuted into English and spread.

This is God's Wisdom working its way through this means.

And while this leaves a lot to be desired, it will grow and improve.

American leaders were also supporting Khomeini. After the Pravda endorsement, Ramsey Clark, who served as Attorney General under President Lyndon B. Johnson, held a press conference where he reported on a trip to Iran and a Paris visit with Khomeini. He urged the US government to take no action to help the Shah so that Iran could determine its own fate. Clark played a behind the scenes role influencing members of Congress to not get involved in the crisis. Perhaps UN Ambassador Andrew Young best expressed the thinking of the left at the time when he stated that, if successful, Khomeini would eventually be hailed as a saint.

Khomeini was allowed to seize power in Iran and, as a result, we are now reaping the harvest of anti-American fanaticism and extremism. Khomeini unleashed the hybrid of Islam and Marxism that has spawned suicide bombers and hijackers. President Jimmy Carter, and the extremists in his administration are to blame and should be held accountable.

James Earl Carter State of the Union 1980

Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force.

As far as I understand the Iranian government, the position of President has very little real power. So, as far as what happens inside Iran, I don't think there is much difference between having Hatami or Ahmadinejad as President. The perception outside Iran is very different though. Hatami tried to reach out to other governments with a hand of friendship. Unfortunately, his hand was slapped by Bush. Ahmadinejad seems far more inclined to promote conflict with other countries. Maybe after Bush and Ahmadinejad are out of office, relations between the U.S. and Iran can improve. I hope so.

Naj said...

David,

I think you assessment about what happens inside Iran being independent of the president, is not accurate. It is true that the ultimate power in Iran is not in President's hand; but they have quite a bit of executive power.

Re Khatami and Thisa dude: Khatami was a COWARD! He didn't push his hand far enough to make Americans come to the table. It is because of Ahmadinejad that we are LEARNING that the bushits rejected Iran's hand in conciliation.

Ahmadinejad has brought Iran to the EYE of storm! That was a SMART move! BEcause of that, people have started to LEARN about Iran! Had he not done that, I wouldn't be blogging here about the other face of Iran!

The angel Gabriel came to the Lord and said "I have to talk to you. We have some Iranians up here in heavens that are causing problems:

" They're swinging on the pearly gates, my horn is missing, they are wearing Dolce and Gabanas instead of their white robes, their dogs are riding the chariots, and they're selling their halos to people for discount prices. They refuse to keep the stairway to Heaven clear, since they keep crouching down midway eating sunflower and watermelon seeds all over the place. Some of them are walking around with just one wing!"

The Lord said, "Iranians are Iranians. Heaven is home to all my children. If you want to know about real problems, call the devil."

The Devil answered the phone, "Hello? Damn, hold on a minute."

The Devil returned to the phone, "OK I'm back. What can I do for you?"

Gabriel replied, "I just wanted to know what kind of problems you're having down there."

The Devil said, "Hold on again. I need to check on something."

After about 5 minutes the Devil returned to the phone and said, "I'm back. Now what was the question?"

Gabriel said, "What kind of problems are you having down there?"

The Devil said, "Man I don't believe this.......Hold on."

This time the Devil was gone 15 minutes.

The Devil returned and said, "I'm sorry Gabriel, I can't talk right now. Those damn Iranians have extinguished the fire and are trying to install air conditioning! !"

In regards to the school girls dancing, that is just business as usual. This has been going on for decades (girls dancing like that in the class room). Likewise for the uniforms; even 30 years ago high schhol age girls were forced to wear uniforms and high-school age boys were not.

And in regards to the arrest videro I have already posted my reply.
